1 March - Insulation
The loft is now stuffed full of beautiful soft sheep's wool insulation, and hopefully the house will be warmer and more energy
efficient. Talking of eco things, I am going to the Ecobuild Show this week...
5 March - Ecobuild
There are loads of fascinating exhibitors at the show, though it is so large it's difficult to imagine getting round it all. Still,
I find a few useful ideas.
6 March - Apples and pears
We have just planted a dozen trees round the garden. Still tiny but in a few years I hope they will be providing many delicious
fruits. Check out the East of England Apples and Orchards Project
for details of heritage varieties that they are trying to preserve.
11 March - Payback
I have just had a friend round for a few days helping me prepare some soil, move some compost and fix up some guttering as repayment
for me doing his kitchen some time ago.
13 March - Skimming
I have decided to skim the bathroom wall as it's in such a state. Soon it becomes apparent I have to do another wall as well. |
18 March - Wedding
Bizarrely at my son's primary school they are having a mock wedding between two of the kids, in a church, with everyone dressed up.
It is the most strange experience, and I am unsure what it is all supposed to be for.
19 March - A new house
We are getting some chickens shortly so I start work on a house for them. I have also ordered some electric fencing to keep the fox
out (I hope).
20 March - Plumbing troubles
Our rainwater tank is nearly empty, and has some sludge in the bottom so I have hired a pump to get it out. In the course of
my investigations I discover that the input pipe isn't connected correctly, which may explain why the sludge has been getting in...
Eventually it is all correctly reassembled - all we need now is some rain.
26 March - Hello girls!
We have picked up a couple of our new hens and they are settling in. I'm looking forward to the first egg tomorrow morning! |
