8 May - Floor sanded
I have hand sanded the entire floor and filled the knots and cracks so it's ready for the hardwax oil. |
13 May - Floor finished
I have applied two coats of oil and it is now drying out. Just need to reattach the skirtings and window boxes, then paper and decorate it... |
20 May - Windows and shutters
I have decided to sort out the windows and replace the missing shutters. Originally the windows had (rare) vertical sliding shutters, and the boxes are still there
but the shutters have gone, along with the weights, alas. I realise this is probably slightly mad and will take me ages... |
22 May - Window boxes
I have a great big pile of Douglas Fir, so I start off creating new boxes for below the windows. Two of the originals have survived but the other three have rotted out. |
27 May - Shutters
I have done the boxes, so now onto the ten shutters... |
